The Mist - Looks Great Even If It Isn't A Zombie Movie
By Zombie Wrangler @ 6:06 AM :: 0 Comments :: Movie News

While the movie is not about zombies, this promotional image reminds me of zombies and thus adds extra coolness.Wow!  The trailers for Stephen King's The Mist look fantastic!

So far, at least in the trailers I have seen, they don't give away too much.  This is good.  What they have shown creates a sense of mystery and horror.

Too often movie trailers give away too much.  A film that had a bad trailer was Swim Fan.  The trailer literally showed every freakin' plot point all the way up to the climax.  Hey fellas, there is no reason for anyone to see your movie since I have already seen the cliff notes version - including the end!

The trailers for the original Matrix movie are examples of how this should be done.  They show you some interesting action, some dialogue that peeks your interest, but still do not reveal the story.  You need to see the movie to get that..."No one can be told what the Matrix is."   They gave you just enough to start guessing.

After watching the trailer for The Mist I have lots of questions I want answered:  What is the mist?  What is killing the people?  Is the mist alive?  Is it supernatural?  Will the people survive?  See, I now have questions in the back of my head that are hungry for answers.  That is a great way to get folks, folks like me anyway, to go see a movie.

With luck, The Mist will live up to expectations and be an exciting ride.

It opens everywhere November 21st!

Karl Hardman Passes Away
By Zombie Wrangler @ 2:35 PM :: 0 Comments :: Movie News
Very sad news... Karl Hardman passed away over the weekend. I'm sure all fans will fondly remember Karl's portrayal of 'Harry Cooper' in 'Night of the Living Dead' - Who in the end of course was right about it being safer in the cellar!

Godspeed Karl.

Resident Evil: Extinction Takes Top Slot
By Zombie Wrangler @ 10:01 AM :: 0 Comments :: Movie News
The top five movies for the weekend were R-rated, but it was the evil one, as in Resident Evil: Extinction, that won the competition for the box office, debuting with $24 million in ticket sales.

It did so well, best opening for the franchise, that there is now talk of a fourth in the series.

Resident Evil: Extinction - Opening This Weekend in US Theaters
By Zombie Wrangler @ 11:44 AM :: 0 Comments :: Movie News

Resident Evil: ExtinctionThis is a good weekend for fans of the Resident Evil movies and games as the new movie Resident Evil: Extinction is opening today. Milla Jovovich returns as Alice an seems ready to clobber anyone or anything that pisses her off. Of course, it is hard to go wrong with a combination of attractive ladies with firearms clobbering zombies and knuckleheads.

"Alice, now in hiding in the Nevada desert, once again joins forces with Carlos Olivera and L.J., along with new survivors Claire, K-Mart and Nurse Betty to try to eliminate the deadly virus that threatens to make every human being undead...and to seek justice."

Unfortunately, I don’t go the cinema much anymore. I prefer to enjoy films in my home theater without having to worry about all the mess at the movie theaters. So, I probably won’t have review for you anytime soon.

I really enjoyed the first and second in the series, but the second was the weaker out of the two. It felt like two different movies were required to occupy the same space.

So far, this one looks like it will be pretty good.

Day of the Dead 2007 - Update
By Zombie Wrangler @ 3:28 PM :: 0 Comments :: Movie News

Day of the Dead PosterStill no hard date for the release of the new Day of the Dead, but I did manage to find some production shots and a movie poster. There is a question about the origin of the poster - it may have been put together by a fan. My money is on it being a fan poster as it bears too similar a resemblance to one of the Land of the Dead posters to be real, but one never knows.

"When the world is overrun by the flesh hungry dead a small group of survivors head to an underground military bunker in a last ditch effort to stay alive."

Zombies! Zombies! Zombies! - New Zombie Movie
By Zombie Wrangler @ 9:25 AM :: 0 Comments :: Movie News

Zombies! Zombies! Zombies!Zombies! Zombies! Zombies! is new zombie movie coming out in October.  From the poster one might assume it is just a tits and ass movie, but the trailer makes it look like a lot of zombie fun.

"A drug experiment gone wrong produces a league of blood-thirsty zombies. It is up to a small band of exotic dancers trapped in a gentlemans club to fight back. Together they must rely on their wits and skills to survive the night, and pray that they don't become victims of the flesh-eating zombies!"

Hard to go wrong with a combination of chicks, guns, chain saws and zombies.  Hmm… If it is the apocalypse, then being surrounded by attractive mostly naked ladies at the end is a pretty good way to go in my book.  Heh heh.

So far the official site just has a poster and a link to buy tickets, but they do have a decent MySpace.com page with lots of pictures and a trailer.

It seems to be slated to show in only one theater and then on to DVD.  This looks like it will be worth a look when it comes out.

Day of the Dead - new film version in post production
By Zombie Wrangler @ 12:10 PM :: 0 Comments :: Movie News

Steve Miner, director of Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, is bringing us a new version of Day of the Dead. However, it is very different from the original and does not pick up where the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead left off. For example - Ving Rhames returns, but as a different person.

From the trailer, it appears to be a zombie outbreak caused by some sort of secret research project. Hmmm, not so cool. They also appear to be fast zombies - not my favorite. On the up side, it seems like it might be fairly good in terms of special effects and acting.  Overall it looks like fun.  I will post the release date as soon as I find one.

WORST CASE SCENARIO - Movie in Development
By Zombie Wrangler @ 11:00 AM :: 0 Comments :: Movie News

Worst Case ScenarioWorst Case Scenario is the name of a Dutch zombie movie currently in development.  I don’t think they have all the money lined up yet for a full production, but they have made some amazing clips that are well worth a look.

The visuals and audio in the clips create a near perfect mood and look great.  This has the potential to become one of the all time classic zombie films if completed.  It also appears to be an addition to the aquatic Nazi zombie sub-genre.

I’m sure most zombie aficionados’ already know about this movie, but I think it deserves special mention.  Please visit http://www.gorehoundinc.com/ and check this project out.
